The book "Critical Thinking discusses" Vague generalities, like using word combinations such as "very few" or "almost all". More or less an analogy of a oxymoron.
An example would be:
Almost all Honda's have VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control).
This is vague considering using the words almost all. Almost could be replaced by the word some. It's either all or some. Saying almost all just confuses the listener or reader who is trying to figure out the amount of Honda's that have VTEC.

I think that you really did a good job on this post. It was very good. You definitely did a good job writing about this topic. I wrote about the same thing in my blog and at first i didnt really get it but the more i went over it the easier it was to understand, I dont know how it was for you, but in this post i can tell you know what you're talking about because you do a great job explaining it. so anyone that doesnt get this topic should look at your blog because it would definitely help them out. Good job
ReplyDeleteI totaly agree with you, vauge generalities are so annoying!!!gosh...anyway your examples always make me laugh because my fiance is always talking about his cars the way you sometimes do so it makes me laugh, but the example is a good one because I drive a honda and it is definatly not a VTEC.Good job coming up with a good example, and like I always tell you, thanks for being creative, it makes me so much more interested and keeps me interested in your posts.
